Vacancy in Oslo: Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

With great ambitions, we need great people!

Want to shape the technology behind the next chapter of Klaveness Digital?

Klaveness Digital AS is part of the Torvald Klaveness Group and serves as its innovation engine, building digital solutions rooted in deep shipping and logistic expertise. We build digital products that help global industrial companies make smarter decisions across shipping, supply chain and chartering.

We are now looking for a CTO to help shape the next phase of the company.

This is not a traditional CTO role in a mature software company. It is an opportunity for someone who wants to combine technology, product, strategy and commercialization in a company with real complexity, real impact and ambitious growth plans.

You will help scale existing products, launch new initiatives, and define how technology enables growth, scalability and smarter decision-making across our portfolio.

Why Klaveness Digital?

Klaveness Digital was established to build digital services solving real-world challenges in global shipping and industrial supply chains. Our first product, CargoValue, has been commercialized since 2019 and is today a key part of the business. Over the past years, we have expanded into a broader portfolio of products across maritime supply chain solutions, chartering decision support and emissions monitoring.

We combine something rarely found in one company:

Entrepreneurial energy and real ownership, together with the long-term backing of the Torvald Klaveness Group.

This gives us the freedom to build boldly while thinking long term.

We are now focused on:

  • Commercializing and scaling products across the portfolio

  • Applying AI and modern technology more directly into our products

  • Exploring both organic growth and selective acquisitions

To succeed, we need a strong CTO.

The Role

As CTO, you will join the leadership team in Klaveness Digital and be responsible for making technology a strategic driver of the company. You will operate at the intersection of technology, product, innovation and business, ensuring we build solutions that are robust, scalable and commercially relevant. This is not just about architecture governance. You will help shape what we build, how we build it, and how we prioritize.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and developing the technology organization

  • Being a strong leader for tech leads and engineering teams

  • Defining technology direction across products and initiatives

  • Balancing speed, quality and long-term scalability

  • Helping turn MVPs into robust commercial products

  • Acting as a key leadership voice translating technology into business value

  • Strengthening collaboration across tech, product, innovation and commercial teams

  • Participating in customer dialogue, scoping and strategic initiatives

  • Supporting M&A assessments and technical due diligence ‍ ‍

Who We Believe Will Succeed

We believe you have experience leading technology in environments where product, complexity and growth are closely connected. You are technically strong enough to challenge decisions and make sound architecture choices, but pragmatic enough to understand that technology must serve the business.

We believe you bring:

  • Experience as CTO, VP Engineering, Engineering Director or similar

  • Strong understanding of architecture, complex systems and scalable products

  • Experience leading senior engineering organizations

  • Ability to prioritize and create clarity in complex environments

  • Strong understanding of how technology, product and business interact

  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

It is a plus if you also have experience with:

  • Turning early-stage products / MVPs into production-ready solutions

  • Industrial, logistics, shipping, energy or other complex domains

  • Corporate venture, innovation environments or M&A

  • Scala, TypeScript, React, databases and modern cloud environments

You do not need shipping experience, but you need the curiosity and sharpness to learn a complex domain quickly.

What We Offer

This is more than a title. Its real influence.

You will get:

  • A strategic key role in a company with clear ambitions

  • The opportunity to shape organization, products and technology

  • Close collaboration with leadership, product, innovation and commercial teams

  • An international environment with colleagues across Klaveness offices in Oslo, Singapore, Manila, Dubai and Tokyo, as well as close collaboration with affiliated professionals in other countries

  • The combination of startup mentality and strong industrial backing

  • Complex and meaningful challenges with real commercial impact

  • Competitive compensation ‍ ‍
